With coronavirus still creating havoc and rumors of lockdown, self-care has now become an important part of mental health. Since the pandemic started, our daily routines have been thrown off-course and everyone’s gone into work from home mode.
Since the lockdown, men and women have been complaining about how their skin has changed because of constantly being at home. With everyday routines getting affected drastically, our skin is feeling the side-effects of lockdown. This just so happens to be called ‘lockdown skin’.
As the confusion of lockdown is growing and some people are still stuck at home, it is important to give some focus to reviving our skins and taking time to work on ourselves.

Your changing skin
It’s no secret that the pressure of COVID-19 has been getting to all of us. With a lot of issues going around and stress levels being high, it’s no doubt that our skins feel the effects of it. There are many factors that affect the skin and how it changes especially during the lockdown.
In her blog, skincare expert and cosmetic nurse Louise Walsh, also known as The Skin Nurse talks about what might be affecting our skins and what needs to be done.
Stressing your skin out:
Anxiety is a huge factor for skin changes. The side-effects of stress like lack of sleep and appetite can cause breakouts and other skin related issues.
To relax from stressing too much, make sure you try some relaxation techniques to calm down like yoga, breathing exercises, meditation, writing down your thoughts, exercise, etc… When you get free time take a spa day to rejuvenate your skin.
Farewell to our routines:
Covid-19 has drastically changed everyone’s daily routine. This change has possibly thrown our bodies off from their usual familiarity, so creating a house routine has become imperative. To figure out your routine, you need to find your new normal and create your own routine and stick to it.
Take some time out You don’t need to have an aggressive routine with a lot of products, stick to a simple routine that works for you.
Importance of Vitamin D:
If you’re used to going out and being in the sun, then chances are the lockdown has you seriously down on Vitamin D.
So, make sure you get enough sun time or try finding some Vitamin D supplement. But make sure you have your sunscreen on before cruising for some Vitamin D
During the rollercoaster of being in isolation, it's important to set aside time for some self-care routines. This not only helps with your skin but also your mental health which provides overall wellness.

Moisturizer heaven: Give your skin what it needs with deep moisturizing. As the monsoon approaches your skin will tend to get dry. So, it is important to moisturize your skin so it doesn’t flake.
Scrub on: Before moisturizing it is important to get rid of the dead skin, so it opens your pores. Scrubbing your skin also helps with blood circulation and promotes clearer, softer skin. Make sure to moisturize your skin after.
Hydrate yourself: Make sure you have enough water to give your skin all the hydration it needs. Your skin will thank you!
Exercise along: Pump up your mind and body by getting some sunshine as you exercise your body. Take some time off to exercise at least 2.5 hours per week.
Proper diet: It gets easy to fall prey to unhealthy processed food during lockdown season. Choose to eat healthier and fresh food versions and your skin will thank you.
Spa day: Take time from your off day for a spa session and taking some me-time. Facials, manicures, pedicures, etc… to oxygenate your skin and lift your mood. Try using natural ingredient products to make sure you don’t break a hole in your funds or overwork your skin.
