The beauty world in 2020 is witnessing a clean beauty movement. Many brands are trying to give out a unique definition of clean beauty according to their standards. However, this article will settle the ongoing debate for you.

What is a Clean Beauty Product?
Any product must fulfill the two criteria mentioned below to classify as a clean beauty product:
1. Harmless Ingredients

Clean beauty is a product that you can use without causing any harm to your health. This can be a man-made or synthetic ingredient. The ingredients list must not include any toxic ingredients. What are harmless ingredients you ask? Usually, this begins with getting a basic understanding of what ingredients are toxic and what are non- toxic.
Any ingredient that could negatively affect your hormones comes under the toxic head. If the contents of the product can increase or decrease your hormones significantly, it can have serious implications on your health. Carcinogens are toxic ingredients found in some of the products that could lead to a certain risk of cancer. Any toxic ingredient like sulfates, fragrance, metals can lead to skin allergies, reactions, and other side effects. Developing the habit of researching the ingredients before buying a product is worth it and protects you from some serious health consequences.
2. Correct Labeling

Many Companies try to hide their actual ingredients. Sometimes, the toxic ingredients are not mentioned on the label or they get covered up under the heads like fragrance. On top of that, brands use buzzwords like “original” and “natural” to get the attention of the mass audience. Clean products do not have any missing ingredients. They always live up to the claims they make.
To Sum Up
Clean beauty is not about products that are 100% natural or preservative-free. It includes any product man-made or synthetic that is free from any kind of toxicity. In recent years, the beauty industry has introduced several safe synthetics and harmless ingredients that are man-made. As every product needs some safe preservative to keep the formulation stable.
