5 Easy Ways to Fix Your Dehydrated Skin

Dehydrated skin is often confused with dry skin. Both are actually the result of different conditions. Dry skin is a type of skin that genetically lacks oil content in it. Whereas, dehydrated skin is a skin which lacks water content in it. When your skin is not getting the proper amount of water, skin compensates for it by producing more oil to keep it hydrated. However, this results in experiencing breakouts and dry patches for some people. Most of the problems associated with acne, dry patches, rough skin have dehydration as the root cause of it all.

This article is going to cover five ways you can deal with dehydrated skin and fix it:

1. Cleanse

Cleanser acts as a soldier for fighting off dirt, excess oil, makeup, sweat, and other things accumulated on your skin throughout the day. It cleanses your skin and prepares it for the next steps in the routine.

2. Exfoliate

Remember the dry patches mentioned above? Well, exfoliation acts to wash away all the dead skin cells formed on the outer layer of the skin. It gets rid of the flaky skin so the new and fresh skin can get benefits of the necessary ingredients.

3. Incorporate an Essence

Essence has long been a crucial part of the Korean skin routine. The main purpose of an essence is to provide an ample amount of hydration to the skin. It prepares the skin in such a way that it is ready to absorb every drop of mineral and vitamin that comes its way. A popular example of how an essence work is that your skin is like a sponge. A sponge won’t soak the moisture through if it’s dry. However, it plumps up and soaks the hydration uniformly in all parts when it’s hydrated. Similarly, an essence hydrates the skin to prepare it for absorbing all beneficial ingredients of serums, moisturizers, and other products that follow.

4. Use a Hydrating Mask

On days when you feel your skin is acting dull or it’s lacking hydration, go for a hydrating sheet mask. They have multiple nourishing ingredients infused in them which sink deeper into the skin during the application. However, do make sure that you remove the mask once dried, otherwise, it might soak up all good things from your skin back to it.

5. Moisturise

Using a moisturizer has been the most common treatment out there for dehydrated skin. But it’s still not taken seriously by some. You may choose a water-based moisturizer in case of dehydrated skin to make it look plump and moisturized or an oil-based moisturizer according to your skin type. It gives a boost of hydration to the skin. Applying a moisturizer is the last step in skin routine. Moisturizer work towards sealing the hydration and good ingredients into the skin and preventing them from evaporating soon enough.
